👗Robin Wright vs Rachel Weisz

Since we're just a few weeks away from Christmas, it's time to start with some shiny and bling bling #WWIB posts! In the next days I'll be showing you 3 pieces from Saint Laurent (by Anthony Vaccarello) Fall/winter 2017 collections and how celebs styled them!
Let's get started!
Robin Wright illuminated the 2017 Cannes Film Festival red carpet, while attending the opening ceremony and premiere of "Ismael's Ghosts" back in May. She stunned in a Saint Laurent Fall 2017 crystal covered mini dress, matching it with simple black pumps.
The same dress has been seen on Rachel Weisz as well, while the actress hit the red carpet of the 2017 Gotham Independent Film Awards, earlier this week. Rachel opted (AGAIN) for black tights and matching shoes and purse.

🎬 Movie Review: Battle of the Sexes

1973
Billie Jean King not only is the strongest pro female tennis player, but she's also fighting for pay equality between men and women in this sport. A man earns almost 7 times more than a woman, but Billie Jean King and a group of other tennis players are no longer ok with it so, after a failed negotiation with tennis association administrators, Billie Jean has to keep her promise and starts a new 'all female' tennis tour, travelling for the promotion in different cities in the US.

Meanwhile Bobby Riggs, former number 1 player and gambling addict, is struggling with his life without tennis and competitions...so, one night, he comes up with an idea: a man vs woman tennis match and the female competitor has to be Billie Jean King. He's sure he will defeat her simply because he's a man and everybody knows man are better than women. Billie Jean first reject the project, but when Margaret Court, current number 1, accepts the match and badly loses against Bobby, Billie Jean will accept the challenge.

Immagine correlata
The place choosen for the epic 'battle' (that's still one of the most watched sport event of all times) is the Houston Astrodome arena, in Texas and the tickets are sold out. Billie Jean King has been traning like hell, feeling the pressure to prove that women deserve the same rights as men, while Bobby Riggs has been fooling around, ditching practice for PR events and giving interviews.

I won't spoil the ending because you might haven't seen the movie and don't already know the results, but one thing is sure: beside all the entertainment show and the symbolic importance of the match, this has been tennis at its highest levels.

My Opinion👍👎
The first part of the movie focuses more on Billie Jean King's personal issues, her battle to understand her sexual orientation: she loves her husband (Larry King) very much, but also feels something for Marilyn Barnett, her hairdresser. This gives a double importance to the match Billie Jean has to play, but I feel like it also drag the attention away on the equality message.
The part of the match itself is interesting to watch and gives you goose bumps whenever Billie Jean or Bobby score a point
Emma Stone and Steve Carrell are marvelous, I would nominate them both for every movie award right away, they portray perfectly their characters and give us an outstading performance.

Alan Cumming is once again a majestic supporting character, the "fairygood father" / talking cricket for Billie Jean as someone who knows exactly the mixed feelings she's struggling with.

Would I pay the full prize ticket? I did pay the full prize ticket and haven't regret it!

👗Who Wore it Better: Valentino Edition

Doing a proper #WWIB edition on a designer so loved and worn such as Valentino is nearly a mission impossile: everytime I thought I was done and that no celeb was going to wear the same dressa s another one, they popped out in dozens!
So I had to make a choice and, even so, I ended up with lots of comparisons…From Oscar-winning actresses to the new generation of web influencers and fashion bloggers, from Hollywood to Paris, here’s a list that shows how worldwide and appreciated Valentino is.

Spanish influencer Gala Gonzalez was one of the guest at the Valentino at Hotel Costes event, late last September. She showed off this Valentino Resort 2018 muticoloured dress and matched it with black studded riders boots and a matching studded bright green bag.
Mandy Moore attended the Valentino x InStyle Cocktail Party wearing the same patterned dress as  Gala. She opted for a softer look and completed the outfit with two-tone sandals and an updo hairstyle.

👗Anna Mouglalis vs Rachel Weisz

Chanel has always been feminine and one of her signature textiles was tweed. Today we have it as the protagonist of this #WWIB.
The first who wore the Chanel tweed jacket and skirt has been French actress Anna Mouglalis, while attending the Chanel Haute Couture Fall 2017 show at the Grand Palais, back in July. She looked so chic with black high heels and a chain white shoulder bag.
A different approach to the outfit has been showed by British actress Rachel Weisz, on October. She attended the Through Her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Program Luncheon event adding to the look black tights, pumps and shoulder bag.

Who do you think wore it best?
Anna Mouglalis or Rachel Weisz?

🎬 Movie Review: Borg/McEnroe

I've been waiting for this movie (and 'Battle of the Sexes' as well) for the entire year, I've been able to watch them both and they didn't disappoint me!
Wimbledon, 1980

The movie focuses on Borg/McEnroe Wimbledon's final match in 1980, but run through both tennis players lives to that very moment: their backgrouds (Björn Borg came from a lower mid class Swedish family, while John Patrick McEnroe's one was wealthy) were as different as their characters: McEnroe was turbulent and easy to anger, Borg could strike for piece of ice, he was calm and quiet, almost sphinxlike.

In 1980 Borg, by the age of 24, was number 1 in the official singles ranking and was looking for his 5th title on Wimbledon's grass, consecutive!

McEnroe was a promise of  US tennis, left-handed and he was 2nd in the ranking. Still, he was mainly known for his arrogant attitude and ongoing discussions with court judges.
Wimbledon is an elitè place, the only Grand Slam tournament with a dress code and so it was predictable that British preferred detached and inscrutable players like Borg instead of an hothead like McEnroe.
Risultati immagini per Borg/McEnroe
From the first match we discover every little tick, superstitions and rituals of both and the sacrifices they've made to reach the top of their game, thanks to flashbacks.

My Opinion👍👎

First things first: Sverrir Gudnason is Borg's doppelganger! There's no other plausible explanation for their incredible resemblance!
Beside that, the movie is AMAZING! It was like sitting on Central Court, enjoying the game and I had to remember myself I was in a movie theater instead.
The recreation of the 80's is just perfect and both Sverrir Gudnason and Shia LaBeouf are terrific in their roles!
The only thing I didn't like were the close-ups (the lasted too long)...they should have given depth to the moment, ehm...mission not accomplished.
Overall the screenplay was great and it has been amazing to see the characters insecurities and hopes.

Would I pay the full prize ticket? The movie is worth it, definitely! It's a piece of tennis story and the fans will surely appreciate it.

She believes her sister is mad to consider marrying a man she hardly knows, even if he will one day make her a countess. 📺 Korean Tv Series Review: Master's Sun (주군의 태양)

I discovered only recently Korean drama/comedies and I must say they're both touching and addictive. I just finish this series, Master's Sun (it's only 17 episode and self-conclusive) and I'm already searching for a new one...if you have any suggestion, do SHARE!!
Immagine correlata
Tae Gong-shil once was a brilliant student, with tons of interests and friends. Her name literally means "Big Sun" and she was supposed to become really successfull, but a terrible accident made her fell into coma and, waking up, she was no longer the same...she was able to see ghosts!
Since then she hasn't been able to live a normal life: once the ghosts understood she could see them, they'd follow her and ask her for favors/help with pending issues, making it impossible for her to keep on studying, not to mention keeping a job....or sleeping, that's why she looks like a ghost herself.
Everything changed one stormy night, when she met Joo Jоong-wonwho's CEO of the Kingdom Enterprises and a very rude man. His past is no picnic either and, growing up, he became cold and arrogant, someone who doesn't want anybody to touch him...and that could be a problem since Tae Gong-shil must touch him to make the ghosts go away!
As ridiculous as it sound, President Joo tries his best to get rid of her, but eventually he'll have to change his mind when his ex-girlfriend's ghost took control of Tae Gong's body. After that, the two of them will form the most unlikely of the teams: Tae Gong is going to report to President Joo whenever his ex will appear and he will be her 'shield' when ghosts become to scary to bear...

Secondary character are Kang Woo, the mall's chief of security and Tae Gong's flat mate and actress/model Tae Yi-ryung, an old friend of Tae Gong.

Each episode will lead one step closer to solve President Joo secrets from his past, while helping ghosts to finally be free from what hold them on Earth and their still living loved ones to go on with their lives.

My Opinion👍👎
I stumbled into the review of this series while scrolling a blog I follow and I was skeptical about starting a Korean tv series: their acting is way different compared of what I'm used to (too much theatrical and exasperated) and I thought the whole thing was a eastern remake of "Ghost Whisperer"...WRONG,WRONG WRONG!
Master's Sun if funny, well written and directed and after an "easy" start, the plots get thicker and discuss of difficult and various argoments.

Before I finish I'd like to say two things:
  1. Chief Secretary Kim is my homie! He's President Joo's right-hand man: beside helping him with daily work stuff, he's some sort of 'talking cricket', giving him another point of view (who's not as cinical as Joo's one) and advices that are always useful. Even so, he has his 'dark side' and secrets as well and will cause one or two problems to our protagonists.
  2. SPOILER!! 9 episodes to finally get the first kiss between Tae Gong and President Joo, and in the after episod he allegedly marries...another girl? That escalated quickly, and in a logical way,  I'd add!

If you'd like something new, that mixes drama and comedy, that will make you want to watch 17 episodes straight, Master's Sun is what you're looking for.

I loved how naïve and full of good intentions Tae Gong is and how much President Joo changes inwardly, while remaining the rational, and sometimes annoying, person he's outwardly.
The stories are full of surprises and plot twists, human and ghosts characters come in and out the protagonist's lives and somehow leave a mark in them.

Soundtrack's songs choices couldn't be more appropriate and my favourite thing to do while starting a new episode was...to guess what clothes colour choices would have made President Joo that time...

and THESE are the sober outfits😂

👗Fan Bingbing vs Kate Mara

Erdem x H&M collaboration has been a sale success all over the world, so it's no surprise that celebs loved it as well!
The first who wore this Erdem x H&M floral dress has been Chinese actress Fan Bingbing, during the press junket of her new movie "Sky Hunter", last September. She looked ethereal as always, with her sikly black hair left loose and just a pendant earring to complete the look.
On the other side of the world, American actress Kate Mara wore the same dress  at the  H&M x ERDEM Runway Show & Party, held in Los Angeles, last October. She went for her signature slick back hairstyle and wore a body cross brown mini purse.

FYI - This dress has been worn by Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden as well, while hosting a reception at Haga Palace.

🎬 Movie Review: The Snowman

Harry Hole is a dective for the Oslo police department, but his alchool abuse makes it difficult for his sergent to give him the high profile cases he asks for. Not that it is a problem for Harry, who decides to help the department’s newbie detective Katrine Bratt with her investigation on a series of murders perpetrated on single or negligent moms.

It appears that a serial killer is targeting only single moms (or moms to be) that he consider bad moms and not worthy of such an important role. What's most disturbing isn't the motive, but how he kills them: cutting their troats and placing their heads on two big snowballs, making them the creepiest snow(wo)men.
While on their investigations, Harry and Katrine cross their path with business man Arve Stop and his ambiguous 'friend' Dr.Vetlesen, whom seem to be involved in a not to clear series of abortions.

Like this isn't enought, Harry has an ex girlfriend, Rakel, and their relationship is messed up. They both can't move on from each other, but Rakel has another partner, Mathias, and Harry doesn't want to get back together, still he hangs close to them because he cares a lot about Rakel's son, Oleg.

Things start to turn difficult and dangerous for Harry and Katrine as they manage to put the puzzle pieces together and figure out who the serial killer is.

My Opinion👍👎
The story itself is good, the problems here are the endless moments of silence, wvwn if there are people in the scene, and the continuous change of year which, at the end of the 2 hours, is pretty confusing.
The actor aren't able to fully portray their characters feelings (or should I say demons?) and a few of the scenes are completely irrelevant to the main story, nor they even make sense...
Example: Harry Hole/Michael Fassebend arrives back into his appartament late at night and finds the mould man working with a really loud music on...Now, I've never been in Norway, but it can't be normal to find someone you don't know in your appartmant, at that time of the night!!

I know that adapting a best selling novel to make it an equal good movie must be challenging, but the parallel stories are mixed up and pointless, since they don't get their proper endings.

No, I'm sorry to say it, but this is a movie to avoid.

Would I pay the full prize ticket? I think it'd be better if you skip the movie, read the book if you're curious.

👗Who Wore it Better: Chiara Ferragni Edition

Web influencer Chiara Ferragni has been on top of her game for years now, whether you love her or not.
Personally, I like that an Italian girl (patriotism mode: on!) managed to create a new kind of job from scratches, thanks to Internet and her love for fashion, but this doesn't mean she's immune to #WWIB posts...as a matter of fact, we had quite a lot her on the blog and today's no difference.

Here's to you the latest looks that have been worn by Chiara and other celebs in the past weeks!
Enjoy!
Chiara Ferragni wore the Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini top and studded leather skirt at the designer's fashion show during this past Milan Fashion Week and also for her "Chiara Ferragni Collection" shop grand opening, this September. She completed the look with a black bomber jacket and ankle boots, both from her collection.
Portuguese model Sara Sampaio wore the same top, at the private viewing, hosted by Vogue, for the Irving Penn exhibition, during Paris Fashion Week. She matched it with high waist grey trousers and black pumps.
Grey's Anatomy actress Kelly McCreary wore Sara's exact same look at the series 300th episode celebration, earlier this November. She matched it with metallic gold shoes.

UPDATE: Singer Dua Lipa wore the same attire at the Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball, on December 9th.
Chiara Ferragni was the last of these trio to wear this coutry vibe dress by CD while attending thes the Christian Dior show during this past Paris Fashion Week.  She styled it with a studden red shoulder bag and baby blue shoes.
French actress Charlotte Le Bon wore a modified version of the dress, opting for a rose embellished non sheer bustier. She added black pumps, an embroidered white clutch and a magnetic orange eye make up.
American actress Margaret Qualley has been the first to be spotted wearing the rainbow-inspired dress, at the New York premiere of her latest movie 'Death Note'. She matched it with plum sandals and barely there makeup.
Chiara Ferragni and Pamela Anderson wore the same green embellished Miu Miu min dress while attending respectively the fashion show and the after party, nearly 2 months ago, in Paris. Chiara styled it with a furry white coat and embellished pink shoes, while Pamela opted for the "wow factor" and wore colourful open-toe pumps and a went for no make up.
Chiara Ferragni wore this Prada bright blue crop top and matched feathered skirt at the  #BoF500 gala dinner, held during this past September New York Fashion Week. She completed the outfit with yellow/acquamarine Mary Jane heels.
Giovanna Battaglia attended some fashion shows during Paris Fashion Week with the same attire, but styled it with a yellow coat and velvet navy blue sandals.

Chiara Ferragni or another celeb?

10 Movies turned into Tv Series

From Harry Potter to James Bond (through Twilight, It and A Monster Call); from Game of Thrones to Handmaid's Tale and the Vampire Diaries, it's no news that we have been surrounded from movies and TV series...
What's pretty new, but it's already become popular, is to transfom the tv series in a movie...or viceversa.
From Limitless to Letal Weapon, here a list of the movies turned tv series!

1. Letal Weapon
THE MOVIE series is made of 4 films, from 1987 to 1998, and the protagonists were portrayed by Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. Being these cop movies, a mix of comedy and action sequences, they were perfect material for a Tv show and so...
THE 2016 TV SERIES sees Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford for the roles of the two cops. It appears they did a good job, because the series has already been renewed for a second season.

2. Fargo
THE 1996 MOVIE was directed by the Coen Brothers and, beside being a cult movie, it won the Prix de la mise en scène (Best Direction) at the Cannes Film Festival and two Academy Awards (Best Writing Original Screenplay and Best Actress In A Leading Role). The cast itself should win an award: Frances McDormand, William H. MacySteve Buscemi and Peter Stormare.
THE TV SERIES tells a different story for each season, with a different cast every time (like in AHS). It has been very well received both by critics and audience and won at the 2014 and 2016 Emmy Awards and Golden Globes.

3. Rush Hour
THE 1998 MOVIE with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker had 2 sequels (2001 and 2007). A few weeks ago Jackie Chan revealed the project for a 4th movie has started and that the shooting will start probably in 2018, as soon as Chris Tucker will agree to get back to play Detective James Carter.
THE TV SERIES with Jon Foo and Justin Hires (who's also in the MacGyver reboot), wasn't lucky as the movies and has been cancelled after the first season.

4. 10 things I hate about you
"Hello, Katarina. Make anyone cry today?"
"Sadly, no. But it's only 4:30."
THE MOVIE beside being my "go-to movie" when I want some 90's revival, this 1999 comedy's cast is full of promises: Julia Style, comedy queen in the 90ies, she worked in TV series like Dexter and Riviera. The male cast was composed by Heath Ledger, who won as Best Supporting Actor for The Dark Knight (posthumously) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, famous for combining indie movies like "500 days of Summer" and blockbusters like "Inception".
THE TV SERIES, however, wasn’t the hoped success and was not renewed after its first season.

5. Minority Report
THE MOVIE was one of the first I've ever seen with Tom Cruise, I did't love it nor hate it, but worldwide it received positive critics and was also nominated for many awards, including the Academy (in the technical categories).
THE TV SERIES reception, on the other hand, was very poor and the show has been cancelled after one season.

6. The Punisher

THE MOVIE focuses on Frank Castle/The Punisher and is based on a comic book character, created by writer Gerry Conway, artists John Romita Sr. and Ross Andru. There have been three big screen adaptations.
THE TV SERIES: the first season of the show will air on November, 17th thanks to Netfix.

7. Limitless
THE 2011 MOVIE was abot Edward Morra (Bradley Cooper), a drug addict/writer wannabe: he became that (and so much more) after taking NZT-48, a drug that higly amplifies the brain functions.
THE TV SERIES was based on the same concept, but the protagonist's name is Brian Finch (Jake McDorman), who goes from shirker to music genius after taking NZT. That sudden change led FBI first to investigate on him and after to hire him as "special consultant". The series was funny to me, but wasn't renewed for a second season.

8. Beowulf
THE 2007 MOVIE was based on the cominc book written and drawn by Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary. What's interesting about it is that it was shot with the motion capture technique (like The Polar Express) and a videogame has been released in 2008 based on the movie's plot.
THE 2016 TV SERIES was a British production, but due to the poor share and mixed feelings reviews, it has been cancelled after the first season.

9. Lemony Snicket's: A series of Unfortunate Events
THE 2004 MOVIE with Jim Carrey playing Count Olaf has been nominated for tons of technical categories at various events, like  Critics' Choice Movie Award and  International Film Music Critics Award. It won the Academy Awards for Makeup.
THE 2017 TV SERIES, produced by Netflix, sees Neil Patrick Harris as in the role of the Count and the first season gathered a good audience and critics were positive. It has been already confirmed for a second and third season.
10. Cobra Kai
THE 1984 MOVIE quickly became a cult, with some of its quotes mentioned nowadays as well...Even if you never saw it, you'll know the "Wax on, wax off" mantra. After the first one, there have been 3 more, the 4th with a new protagonist (Hilary Swank, in the role of bullied young girl Julie Pierce). The latest movie of the series is actually more a reboot, with Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan and it's set in China, not in America.
THE TV SERIES first airing is scheduled for August 2018 and will start off from the first movie, 30 years later. Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) is a success business owner, while his longtime enemy Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) tries to re open the unfamous karate dojo Cobra Kai...

Stay tuned, because in the next weeks you'll see the other way around: can you guess how many Tv Series have been adapted for the big screen?

UPDATE - Rumor has it that another comedy from the 90's is about to become a TV series...I'm talking about Four Weddings and a Funeral!

👗Keira Knightley vs Bruna Linzmeyer

It's weird to do a Gucci #WWIB and not having Salma Hayek as one of the contestants...
Anyway, back to business, shall we?
This Gucci Fall 2017 RTW floral piece has been seen first on British actress Keira Knightley, while at the BGC Charity Day, back in September. Keira is famous for her shabby chic/gipsy style so it was no surprise to see her hair left loose and she completed the outfit with sandy brown open toe sandals.
Brazilian actress Bruna Linmeyer attended the premiere of her latest movie "The Movie of my Life", screened during Rome Film Festival, on October, 30th.
She wore black open back shoes and, like Keira, left her short bob wild.

👗Emma Stone vs Lily Collins

Two of my favourite actresses wore the same elaborated Chanel Pre-Fall 2017 look, but it two very different ways and I seriously have hard times deciding which style I like most!
Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone wore the runway version of the look (it is orginally a dress) at 'La La Land' premiere in Paris, earlier this January. She styled it with black sandal, a wavy updo and a warm toned make up. Actress Lily Collins opted for just the top part of the dress and matched it with a pair of jeans and black heels while in front row at the Chanel Show durig the Paris Haute Couture fashion week, back in July. She opted for a smokey eye make up and not too styled wavy hair.
