Get The Look: Chiara Ferragni Style

Among all fashion bloggers/digital influencers, Chiara Ferragni's looks are probably the most imitated. Latey, she has been showing her sexy side with a lot of sheer dresses (HERE & HERE) and it was just a few days ago when she uploaded this photo on her IG: this is a LNA black sheer top (or is it a bodysuit? Have no idea!).
If you'd like to copy the look, here's my suggestion: a similar bodysuit by Tally Weijl, with colorful roses instead of black shiny stars.
I know: "Florals? In spring? Groundbreking!"

She added different lenght, multiple necklaces and opted for an half-up/half-down hairstyle, perfect for summer as well!

🎬 Movie Review: Your Name. (君の名は。)

Your Name. (君の名は。) is a Japanese animated movie, premiered in 2016 and has been written and directed by Makoto Shinkai, who also wrote the novel this anime movie is based on.

Fun fact: this movie hit the theatres last year in July in the USA and in August in Japan and managed to become the highest-grossing anime movie, over comin Academy Award winning "Spirited Away".

So here's my review and thoughts about it, enjoy!

Mitsuha and Taki are completely stranger to one another and it's easy to see why: she lives in the mountain town of Itomori, has a younger sister and helps her grandmother at the temple. On the other side, he (Taki) is an high school boy, working part time in an Italian restaurant.
The two of them have never met in real life, but for some twist of fate, they swich bodies every once in a while!

After a first moment of shock and confusion, the two of them find a way to communicate through notes on their cellphones and note books. They are actually enjoying being someone else and Mitsuha tries to help Taki by setting a date with his colleague Okudera.

But these switches end all of a sudden and that's when Taki decides it's time to meet the real Mitsuha...the problem is that after when they wake up in their on body they forget each other's names.

My Opinion
I was really curious about this one and, now that I've seen it, I can't wait to read the novel as well, to see if there's a reason why these two teenagers switch bodies; likewise any anime woth of this name, there's no explaination of the events, they just happen. The story is addictive and don't even get me started on how AWESOME the soundtrack is! I've downloaded it completely!

Beside one or two scenes that added a not necessary vibe of irrealism, I think this is a great movie and I won't be surprise to see it in the final nominees list at the next Academy Awards!

📖 Novel of the Week: Soldier Dog by Sam Angus

I finally managed to read Soldier Dog by Sam Angus, a book that caught my attention just with its beautiful cover (both in the English and Italian edition). What shoul have been a good story about a boy and his dog turned out a wonderful description of a young boy's journey during the horrors of World War I and how loyalty and reliability between a human and a dog can literally save someone's life, in more than one way.
1900787118515084

England/France, 1917-18
Stanley Ryder is forced to live alone with his bossy and depressed father, after his mother died and his older brother Tom enrolled in the army, to fight in France. The only "thing" Stanley's dad is interested in is their dog Rocket, a local run competitions champ, but that as well slide away when Stan forgets to keep the dog in and, after a night, she comes back pregnant.

When the puppies arrived, Stan's father brings them to a gathering of hunters to give them away, but Stanley keeps the only male of the litter and name him Soldier...however, after several weeks, the dad takes Soldier away and that's what forced Stanley to make drastic decision: to enroll him as well in the army to go and live with Tom.
Destiny wanted Stanley to be amazing with animals (thanks his innate empathy with them) so he gets into the "canine unit", to train messangers dogs. This is war, where humans and animals lives are really in danger of death so it's of extreme importance that the dogs deliver their messages quickly and promptly.

Stanley wasn't ready to go first line in war: that will make him rethink his decisions and stumble when bad things start to happen...

What I liked 👍
It's safe to say I'm a dog person (even if I've never had one...yet) and I'm not saying this because only dog people can enjoy this book...au contraire!
I'll add this to my "book I've cried for" list because it has such an emotional end and I unsuccessfully tried to fight tears back. Dogs' well known features (such as loyalty and trustworthy) are protagonists in their own way and are very relevant as we get to know the dogs that Stanley ends up working with.
What I did not like 👎
The first part is lacking in clearness of the descriptions, I had to re read a few lines more than once to understand what was going on

As soon as the story starts to define itself, the novel takes a whole new path and I loved it! I couldn't put it down, not even if I wanted to. The boy-dog relationship is heart melting and war is surely no place for sentimentalisms.

My vote: 9/10

👗Michelle Monaghan vs Ruth Wilson

And after 5 days European designers' gowns, it was about time to have an American based designer; and the lucky one is...Michael Kors!
Michelle Monaghan wore this amazing blue shirt & skirt combo first, while attending at the Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Breakfast last October. To give the look a pop of "colour" she wore a white pointy peter pan collar as well as white pumps. Barely there make up and flawless hair completed the look.
Ruth Wilson wore the same outfit, but skipped the white accessories and, instead, opted for a black belt and matched black sandals while attending the Olivier Awards nominations celebrations, last week, in London.

I personally love this assamblement (the skirt in particulat) and I think Michelle Monaghan did a fantastic job and make it stand out!

👗Lupita Nyong’o vs Beyoncé Knowles

I personally like a lot this shade of bright green and it's perfect for the skin colour of the two celebs of today's "who wore it better"!
The one who wore this Gucci plisse gown has been Lupita Nyong'o back in 2015, on the red carpet for the Cannes Film Festival opening cerimony. I like her hairstyle choice, what I don't like is how the dress fit on her upper body part, but she managed to look fabulous anyway.
Much more recently (earlier this March) Beyocé appeared in an Istagram pic with the same dress, before heading to the "Beauty and the Beast" premiere in Los Angeles. She look really good, sporting wavy hair and glowy make up.

👗Nicole Kidman vs Sonam Kapoor

I simply love this Christian Dior vintage soft pink embroided dress, don't you too?
Australian actress Nicole Kidman wore this Dior S/S 2017 tulle embroided dress first, back in January, at the 28th Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards. She looked a lot like Taylor Swift (back in the days where she sported long and wavy blond hair). She completed the look with nude pink heels and a classic red lips make up.
Indian actress Sonam Kapoor wore the same dress as Nicole while on clothes fitting appointment and had to keep her Instagram followers updated by posting a lot of pictures. She opted for a classy hairstyle and added some fun with lots of earrings and chockers.

👗 Diane Kruger vs Chiara Ferragni

Think you might having a déjà-vu? Well, yes! Not so long ago I did another who wore it better post about a Dior sheer dress and Chiara Ferragni was in it (HERE)...what can I say, she obviously loves Christian!
This Christian Dior pre Fall 2017 nude pink dress has been worn first by German actress Diane Kruger. She wore it at the 2017 Sidaction gala back in Januray and styled it with a matched pink furry bolero, black shoes and purse. She also happens to like a lot chockers since she is wearing them a lot, lately!
Then we have yours truly Chiara Ferragni, who has been spotted with this sheer dress at the Christian Dior show, during Paris Fashion week, a few days ago. She went for Dior total look and styled her hair in a tight ballerina chignon.

I find myself a lot undecided over this #WWIB because on one side, I don't like Diane's bolero AT ALL. On the other side, I'm not a fan of the braless when it comes to sheer outfits. Tell me, what do you think?

👗Caitriona Balfe vs Sofia Sanchez de Betak

Big fan of Valentino, always have been...that's why I have hard times understading why they produced this overly layerd and overly multicolor gown!
Caitriona Balfe wore it first on BAFTA's red carpet, earlier last February. The "Outlander" actress managed to stun in this dress, adding just a little sparkle with diamond earrings.
Argentinian art director and Fashion Consultant Sofia Sanchez de Betak attended (in the same dress) the Valentino F/W 2017/2018 show, during Paris Fashion Week, earlier this March. She opted for a boho-chich/gipsy look adding a black beaded necklace. She pull her hair in messy chignon.

👗Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway vs Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (United Kingdom)

This week is going to be just about "who wore it better" posts, except on Sunday.
Enjoy!

If you follow this column, you'd know that we already had #WWIB posts with royals, but this is the first time the contendants are both royals. And not simple royals, but soon to be Queen of Norway and future Princess Consort of UK...not bad, uhm?
The first royal member who wore this Erdem shiny dress has been Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, at the end of her first day of State visit in Canada, last November. She styled her ice blonde hair in soft waves and wore nude Christian Louboutin heels. On the other side of the Atlantic, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge wore the same dress, late this February, while partecipating to a reception (with other members of the Royal family) to mark the launch of the UK-India Year of Culture 2017.
As usual, she sported her signature hairstyle and a brand new pair of sparkly Oscar de la Renta shoes.

📖 Novel of the Week: Voyager #1 by Diana Gabaldon

From "Dragonfly in Amber" on, Gabaldon's Italian editor decided to split the books in two, so I'll make 2 reviews of "Voyager": this one is from the first part of it and the Italian title is "The Stones Circle" and in the next months I'll be reading and reviewing the second part...
Enjoy!

Inverness, Scotland, 1968
Claire is now certain of two things: Jaime didn't die on the battlefield of Culloden in 1746 and it is possible for her to travel back in the past thanks the Craig na Duhn stones one more time...so, while struggling with her urge to be with him again and her responsibilities (in her present) as mother and surgeon, she conducts researches trying to understand what happened to Jaime the 20 years after their parting. Helping her in this task are her daughter Brianna and Roger Wakefield and, within a few months, Jaime's path is nearly pieced together...

Scotland, 18th century
After the battle of Culloden, Jaime lived for 7 years in a cave away enough from Lallybroch, in order to spare his family from the fury of the English army: they would have killed everyone if they knew he was hidden in the house. But still, close enough to know if they were safe and beeded him to take care of them. After all those years, situation in the Highlands is still critic and Jaime takes the risky decision to make himself betrayed so his family could have the money from the reward. By doing so he finds himself in the Ardsmuir jail, but that's just the first stop of his journey long 20 years...

What I liked 👍
The part where Claire, Brianna and Roger do their best to find out what happened to Jaime after Culloden, the descriptions of their emotions and feelings make the reader empathize with the story. And I was moved when Claire and Jaime reunite with each other. As always, the Highlands descriptions are suggestive as if I was seeing them for real.

What I did not like 👎
Too many secrets and things left unsaid led to awkward situations and to impulsive decisions (I'll just say one word: Laoghair). Probably half of the people and events will have a reason as I start the second part, but for now I think there have been a few events and characters who just brought away the attention from the main story.

I love this saga a bit more as I keep on reading, plus I can't wait to see how it will be transpose in the TV series!

My vote: 8/10

👗 Chiara Ferragni vs Jing Tian

Fashion blogger Chiara Ferragni wore the Dior’s black sheer dress first, while attending the 30th FN Achievement back in November, in New York City. Since the dress is already eye catching, she opted for a ‘messy’ updo hairstyle and went for some sparkle, both with her make up and the silver choker she sported. Chinese actress Jing Tian has been seen wearing the same dress while promoting her latest movie 'The Great Wall' last week in Los Angeles. She completed the look with barely there porcelain make up and a messy high bun.
