the Cat's Cafè

Les Cafè de Chats recently opened in 16, rue Michel Le Comte, (Marais district) in Paris. It's a cafè where you can relax, have some hot beverages, read newspaper or books while cuddling a cat. It's a "molten's treatment" for people who loves cats, but can't have one of their own.

It's not an original French's ideas, as a matter of fact it's Japanese's. The first Neko Cafè (cat's cafè) opened in 1998 in Taiwan, then in Osaka in 2004. Japanese people loved the idea and now there're over 100. The first european cafè of this kind opened in Wien, then in Budapest and now in Paris...

These cats are all homeless, they have been spayed and neutered and all the hygiene standards are respected.
This type of cafès were thought for cat's lovers who can't have one due to the strict apartment rules or any other kind of restriction.

Personally, I'm more into dogs, but I find this idea cute, helpfull for the homeless cats and an original way to combine the love for animals to work prospectives. The only rules are NOT to feed the animals, leave them alone if they are eating or sleeping and not force them to come to you.

All the cats adoptable!!!!

Today's Obsession : Tartan in Fashion

Autumn is officially here!! For the past few weeks (and fashion weeks) on evey magazine there were the "Fall 2013 style from runway" issue and one of my favourite is red tartan! Actually isn't THIS fall news, Alexander McQueen thought about tartan on 2006 and since then is one of the greatest trends!
I don't necessarily like the whole outfit to be tartan, one piece is just fine. For example, I've a mini skirt in red tartan and I absolutely adore it!

At the end of the photo gallery there's a nail art tutorial for getting tartan inspired nails. Enjoy!!!

Movie Review : Remember Sunday

Remember Sunday by Jeff Bleckner. With Alexis Bledel, Zachary Levi, Merritt Wever and Barry Shabaka Henley.
A cute rom-com that looks like "50 First Date" (with Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler), but this time the one who has short-term memory loss and forgets about the other person every morning is he, Gus (Zachary Levi).

He a former NASA expert who now lives in New Orleans and works as jewelry apprentice. His sister and a longtime friend, Jerry, help him going through learning what happened every day.

One day Gus enter in a cafeteria where he meets Molly (Alexis Bledel), a working student who has a lot of sentimental failures. At first Molly is charmed by Gus, he’s a sweet and polite guy, but she understands that there’s something he’s not telling her…

It’s really a romantic story, some parts are even sad and I like that the protagonists are insecure and don’t want to be hurt again. Having said that I adore Alexis Bledel, she’s amazing!, I didn’t know who Zachary Levi was…I mean, I knew he was the protagonist of a tv show named “Chuck”, but I never watched it. From now on I will be paying MOOOORE attention on his future projects!

Novel of the Week - Breakfast at Darcy’s by Ali McNamara

I admit I have a problem when it comes to book’s titles…every book that has “breakfast” or “Tiffany” in it, automatically catches my attention.

It happened with “Something at Tiffany’s” by Melissa Hill and after have hated almost ¾ of the book I promised myself not to fall again for a book only because I love Tiffany…The only exception I made was for Breakfast at Darcy’s by Ali McNamara. It doesn’t have anything to do with Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote and here’s the plot:

Saturday, September 7th - Buenos Aires (Argentina)

The C.I.O declared that Tokyo, Japan will be hosting the XXXII edition of the Olympics. The defeated city were Madrid (Spain) because of the hard economic crisis and Istanbul (Turkey) mainly because of the Syria's war and the latest riots that took place in Taksim Meydanı (Taksim Square).

Olimpiadi 2020 a Tokyo: eliminate Istanbul e Madrid, battute dalle “loro” crisi

Japanese Princess Takamado and Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe where in Buenos Aires and celebrate the good news. For Istanbul was the fifth nomination, Madrid hoped that hosting the Olympic Games could had helped going through the difficulties that the economic crisis brought.

The C.I.O tought that Tokyo was a good choice because they transformed the tsunami and earthquake tragedy in an opportunity for the reconstruction of country.

Sunday, after hearing the news, citizens form a giant ‘thank you’ at the Tokyo Municipal Government office square. It will be the second time the city has hosted summer games after the one in 1964. Now is the first Asian country who have hosted the Olympics twice.

Movie Review : W.E - Edward and Wallis

W.E - Edward and Wallis by Madonna. With Abbie CornishAndrea RiseboroughJames D'ArcyOscar Isaac and James Fox.
[W.E.]

This movie is about two parallel stories,  where the two female protagonists share the same name : Wallis.

1998: Wallis Winthrop (Abbie Cornish) is married to doctor William Winthrop and they live in a luxury appartament in New York city. Wallis left his beloved work in order to have a family, but has difficulties in getting pregnant. Her marriage crisis and her husband that’s often out for his work at the hospital or for conferencies, make her spend her day at the auction house where she used to work and looking at the collection of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor’s goods. Her mum give her the name Wallis in honor of Wallis Simpson, the woman behind King Edward VIII’s abdication, so Wallis Winthrop felt like a bond to this woman.  This story is interspersed by Wallis Simpson’ story. Her two marriages and divorces, when and who she met the Edward VIII and who she managed the high media exposure and the critics to her behavior and the fact that she was American and divorced.
W.E. Movie Pictures
The originality of this movie is that for the first time we have Wallis Simpson’s point of view.  We all know what Edward VII had to give up, but neither Wallis had an easy life…
Andrea Riseborough & James D'Arcy in W./E.W. E.
I read that the movie was panned by critics and I can’t understand why….Personally, I liked it. The photography and the costumes are amazing (especially the ones for the Twenties and Thirties). The actors were stunning and believable.
Only one thing I didn’t like and it was the fact that the scene were so long and there were a lot moments of silence…I understand that it’s for create suspance but I would have preferred less “dead moments”.

Before I die....

I know that the post's title could seems a LOT creepy, but it's just the title of an initiative of an American citizen who, after a very personal lost, painted  the side of an abandoned house in his neighborhood in New Orleans with chalkboard paint and stenciled it with a grid of the sentence “Before I die I want to _______.” Anyone walking by could pick up a piece of chalk, reflect on their lives, and share their personal aspirations in public space.

He didn't expect that the reactions could be so positive. The day after he painted it, the wall was full of people's personal wishes!! And none of them were greedies or selfish...a few of them were "Before I die Ii want to swim with dolphins" or " hug a sloth" (my personal favourite!) "write a novel" "feed an elephant" and similar stuff!

This is the link to the website where you can find the whole description of the initiative and all the WHYs WHEREs, WHENs and WHATs : http://candychang.com/before-i-die-in-nola/

I personally belive this is a great and funny thing....at least for a few minutes you can think of your life and wish for yourself something bizarre, special and extraordinary!!

Get Her Look - Alexa Chung

Last November, Versace opened a new boutique in Soho, NY.

At the event there were a lot of personalities and celebrities....Of course there was Donatella Versace herself, along with Lady Gaga, Jennifer Hudston, Coco Rocha, Doutzen Kroes, Linda Evangelista and also Princess Charlene of Monaco!! The main outifit's color was black with the exception of DJ Leigh Lezark, who was wearing a bright yellow dress from the 2012 Fall collection and model and it-girl Alexa Chung, who wore burgundy knit turtleneck slim fit top and   leather mini skirt of the same colour from Versus Fall 2012 collection.

I really like her style and here I want to recreate the look, hopefully without spenging a fortune!

Unfortunately I haven't found the burgundy leather mini skirt (personally, one of my favourite colours for the Autumn) so I had to opted for a total black look.

Black knit turtleneck top : ZARA                     Black purse
Black leather mini skirt : H&M                         Black painted leather shoes : Paul Smith

Hope you like it!!

Novel Of The Week - The ingredients of Love by Nicolas Barreau

Almost two years ago I found myself in a library (NOT  a strange fact, after all) and wandering around bookshelfs my eyes were captured by a very fancy and “parisienne style” book cover. I have to say that I’m not the “I only read romance novels” kind of girl… Au contraire I love thrillers and books that analyze the dark side of the human behavior, but I do also insanely love Paris and this novel had the Tour Eiffel on the book cover, so I HAD TO buy it… The title is The ingredients of Love by Nicolas Barreau.

(SPOILER ALLEART!!!)
